out third members for 9 inch Fords in gear ratios ranging from 2.84 to
6.50. Available for the 28 or 31 spline axle. |
| All of our 9" third members
are assembled with new Timken bearings and a solid spacer in place of the
standard crush sleeve. This makes them stronger and allows you to change
the pinion yolk or seal without affecting the set-up or pinion bearing
preload. |
| We install ring and pinion
gears from Yukon Gear. Standard pinion supports are installed. |

How to tell whether yours is a
8 Inch or 9 Inch Rear End.

Look at the lower two bolts that attach the
removable carrier to the rear end housing. If you can loosen those
bolts with a socket wrench, yours is an 8 Inch. On 9 Inch units the
heads of those bolts are are not accessible using a socket due to insufficient
clearance with the carrier case. |
